International Orientation
The International Education team hosts a series of sessions that have been prepared to provide you with the most information to make sure new students have a successful start to their semester. The sessions are intended to help you navigate and understand how everything works at the College and to make you feel like a welcome part of the College community.
Attendance to all sessions is MANDATORY for all new international students. Please make sure you are registered for these events. Contact us for more information.
Plan Ahead Virtual Session
Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Time: 9-10 AM PST
We know students registered for the Fall & Winter 2024 terms have questions about the transition to college and what to expect this fall. Plan Ahead has been designed to facilitate your transition into college life.
Students will learn about:
- Program/course requirements.
- Registration timelines
- How to create a schedule for Fall 2024 and Winter 2025.
*Note: Selected students will get an email invitation with the Zoom link to register and join the session.
Fall 2024 Pre-Arrival Info Session for International Students
Date: Thursday, 11 July Time-9-10 AM PST
This info session is designed to make sure you are informed of all the steps relating to registration, medical insurance, up-to-date travel requirements, and more prior to arriving to Canada. Please note that this session does not replace the main International Student Orientation days listed below.
Fall 2024 Virtual International Student Orientation
Date: Wednesday, August 14 & Thursday, August 15
Time: Wednesday (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM)/Thursday (8:30 AM-12:15 PM)

This Virtual International Student Orientation is mandatory.
These sessions will cover essential information to ensure a smooth transition at OC and living in Canada.

• Immigration advising
• Academic success strategies
• Canadian classroom culture
• Campus services & community resources
• Meet the International Education staff team, faculty, and college supports

Kelowna Campus: Thursday, August 29 (9 AM - 12 PM)
Penticton Campus: Wednesday, August 28 (9 AM - 1 PM)
Salmon Arm Campus: Wednesday, August 28 (10 AM - 11:30 AM)
Vernon Campus: Wednesday, August 28 (1 PM - 4 PM)
This orientation day is designed to welcome you to your campus and provide practical information to assist you with settling in your city.

Pre-Arrival Guide
- Submit your study permit application (IRCC link) and check processing time
- Inform your market recruitment representative as soon as you receive a decision about your study permit application
- Research and plan your accommodation options (Kelowna Student Housing applications - apply as early as 6-10 months in advance)
- Register for courses - ‘How to Register’ guide
- Check programs start dates and orientation dates before you plan your travel
- Download the iCent App
- Submit your travel plan to the International Office Team
- Attend International Student Orientation:
- Pre-arrival Info session (1 month before classes start)
- Virtual Orientation (3 weeks before classes start)
- Campus Specific In-person Orientation (a few days before classes start)
- Pay your tuition and fees before the deadline
- Purchase early arrival medical insurance – www.guard.me/oc
- Complete Moodle Modules ‘OC 101’ and ‘OC Ready’ (Fall and Winter intakes only)
- Attend the International Campus Specific In-person Orientation
- Join the OC Campus Wide Orientation at your campuses.
- Apply for OC student ID card
- Apply for your BC Medical
- Check out your Campus Map to find your classrooms
